We are grateful to Andrea for speaking with our Mentees and Mentors last week on the "Intersections of Eco Feminism and Climate Justice."

We continue to reflect on Andrea’s words- "Everything is connected to everywhere else. We are nature and as women and girls we are affected by what happens to nature. Our bodies are linked to the Earth.”

In our slideshow we highlight some of the thoughts shared by mentees on their takeaways from the conversation with Andrea.

📢 🎙️ 🖥️ We are thrilled to announce that our second seminar will feature Caribbean feminist Sapphire Alexander of @caribbeanfeminist. Sapphire who hails from Trinidad & Tobago 🇹🇹 uses her platform to build the agency of young women to advocate for their themselves. Her work spans climate action, an area in which she seeks to integrate feminist approaches as an imperative for climate justice.

🗓 We are so excited to introduce our first speaker- Andrea Cortes. A major aspect of this mentorship program is to connect with and learn from other young feminists across the world, and strengthen or regional and global network.

The seminar allows mentees/mentors to ask questions and engage with our speakers on their work and find ways to build on synergies.

💜 Happy Mother's Day! 💐 It takes special people to take on the role of mentoring, in addition to their full time role as mothers and heads of families. At GirlsCare, we are in awe of our Mentors who continue to go above and beyond to share their experience and make time to nurture the next generation of girl activists💕

Special Mother's Day Greetings to our Co Founder @ayesha_constable for dreaming up this idea, for making space, sharing resources and for allowing us to see what the Caribbean Climate Justice movement looks like when we equip young women to lead.

We know that our Earth is a Mother too and as we think of the climate crisis, let it serve as a reminder of the many ways she provides for all of us. 🌏

🌏♀️Today, we officially started our Mentorship Program with young women and girls from across the Caribbean.

The conversation with our mentors and mentees was facilitated by the inspirational Mrs Rasheen Roper Robinson who shared many tips on what successful mentorship looks like- support, leadership, accountability, mentorability; the value of co-developing a shared vision and the importance of setting boundaries.

We can't wait to see how participants action and apply these lessons this year.

We are so honored to work and connect with young women who are already doing intersectional climate change work.

Each year, we are reminded that young women and girls are the faces and voices of climate justice. We are reminded that young women right here in the Caribbean are taking on roles in championing solutions to address the crisis we face.

We are so excited to learn from each of them. This is the next generation of the Feminist Climate Justice movement in the Caribbean! 🇬🇾 🇯🇲 🇰🇳 🇹🇹 🇱🇨 🇦🇬

The mentorship component of the programme is integ

The mentorship component of the programme is integral to the growth of our mentees. The relationship between mentor and mentee is the vehicle for personal development and community building.

As such we are intentional about providing the tools and creating the support systems for these relationships to thrive. Our first group session this year will be Mentorship 101 with trainer Rasheen of the @uwimona in which mentors and mentees will learn tools for communication, collaborative visioning and boundary setting.

As a mentee
✅you are paired with a Caribbean climate practitioner who provides mentorship over the course of the programme
✅participate in virtual training sessions led by young activists and experts from across the Global South
✅get to meet other young activists from across the Caribbean
✅organize virtual campaigns alongside other mentees to highlight issues relevant to your community
✅access other resources and opportunities including regional and global initiatives and conferences
